وقع المحامي نزار صاغية كتابه "الانتحار: التوجهات القانونية في المجتمعات الحديثة" ضمن معرض النادي الثقافي العربي في اكسبو بيروت في جناح مكتبة صادر. قدم الكتاب فؤاد بطرس حيث اورد "هذا الكتيب هو ثمرة رياضة فكرية، اقدم عليها الكاتب ممتحنًا قدرته على البحث العلمي، فبلى بلاًء حسنًا".
يتضمن الكتاب تساؤلات مختلفة منها: هل يمكن للمجتمع ان يتدخل في الانتحار وبشكل اعم في العلاقة التي تربط الفرد بحياته الخاصة عبر حظر الانتحار او الارغام عليه او المشاركة فيه ايجابًا او سلبًا والى اي حد؟"
هي تساؤلات فرضتها قيم المجتمع وبشكل اساس مبدأ إحترام الحياة البشرية وحترام الحرية الذاتية القابلان للتناقض والتجانب في هذا المضمار. وقدم عرض تاريخي مقتضب للأحكام المعمل بها في المجتمعات القديمة. وشرح الانتحار السري مرورًا بالانتحار الذي يتم بمشاركة المجتمع السلبية (رفض العلاج، رفض نقل الدم، عدم نجدة انسان في حال الخطر…) وصولا الى الانتحار الذي يتمّ بمشاركة المجتمع ايجابًا.
وفي ختام العرض حاول الكاتب تحديد وجهة تطور الاحكام القانونية في مسألة الانتحار.
