The Minister of Economy, His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri, inaugurated the launch of "The Legal Regulation of Family Businesses in the United Arab Emirates" book by Dr. Tariq Muhammad Adel Al-Hajjiri, during a seminar that the Ministry of Economy organized at its headquarters in Dubai.
His Excellency highlighted that family businesses represent the economy's backbone and face significant challenges at all levels.
Thus, the Federal Law for Family Business resulted from the experts and specialists' help in this regard, in addition to the specialized legal offices, to draft a modern law that considers their needs and serves them in the future.
The issuance of this book also represents an embodiment of the role of experts and specialists in spreading awareness and culture according to the best practices supported by the Ministry of Economy, introducing family businesses and their characteristics, and distinguishing them from other forms of companies.
Therefore, His Excellency announced that the UAE supports the stability and development of family businesses to help them advance, achieve sustainability and enhance their role in the economic development process.
His Excellency Abdullah Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, complimented the book, particularly given its implications for the Family Companies Law, and hailed Dr. Tariq Al-Hajiri for his role and numerous accomplishments in this sector.
The symposium was attended by a group of jurists, economists, and family business owners.
It included the speech of SADER Publishers' representative, Attorney Rany Sader, the chief legal innovation officer at SADER1863.
Atty. Sader indicated that the issuance of the first family business book coincides with the 160th anniversary of SADER, one of the oldest family companies concerned with legal publishing in the Arab world. It has been operating in the United Arab Emirates for over 18 years.
Dr. Tariq Al-Hajjiri pointed out in his speech the importance of legal regulation of family businesses, which represent the backbone of the state's economy in terms of innovation, economy, and sustainable development, as well as the creation of job opportunities for future generations.
In addition to the importance of family wealth in achieving countries in terms of economic and technological diversification.
Dr. Al-Hujairi stressed the importance of family business governance and its role in stabilizing the family unit and its reflection on the economic level of countries. In conclusion, he expressed the importance of means to settle disputes within the commercial family, especially mediation and arbitration.
